It has been a while since I last posted. After halloween my life was busier than (as one of my friends put it) "a one winged bumble bee." Most of you know that, but I thought I would just reiterate that fact. However, I have a little bit of a break left before getting back to the grind of things so i thought I would post some pics.

My darling first born turned nine back on December 7th....more like 9 going on 19

My mom, dad, and yougest sister Terri came to visit for Thanksgiving. We had a great visit!

We had a great day at our 2nd annual trunk or treat. The kids had a blast! Elijah dressed up as something from the pirates of the carribean. Abigail was a cheerleader thanks to an awesome friend who let her borrow last year's middle school cheerleader uniform. Izzie was given two great costumes so she went as two different characters. The first thing she went as was a cheerleader from UT the one and only volunteers! She was adorable. As the sun went down, she changed into her cutie pie elmo costume! She had so much fun and ate way more suckers than I care to admit. The church had about 550 kids come through the parking lot and get candy and chili dogs. Everyone had a great time. Oh my goodness! I have never had so much to do in my entire life. I love school, I really do. However, this is killing me. I have an awesome husband who helps me tremendously, but there is still too much to do. I hardly see my family anymore. I am always doing something on the computer for school even when I am home. My poor izzie probably thinks she does not have a momma! But I know I will survive! At least until next semester. December can not get here soon enough.

Ok, i have posted quite a bit on abigail so this post is all about Elijah. The other day we received report cards for the end of the year on the kids. Eljah's came with an extra surprise. The teacher included his last story he wrote for first grade. I will type it just exactly the way he wrote it.

My dad and mom fell in mud.
My mom and dad got up and said
son you are grounded for 16 hours.
I snuck out. They never noticed fifteen hours later thay camein
and notced I got in trouble.

At the end of the story he drew a picture of a little boy crying, and a dad with a bubble coming out of his mouth with the word grounded inside. I laughed so hard I cried. He has a huge imagination. maybe one day he will be a writer.

I really do not think i can take much more. We have been going non-stop for weeks now. I am not really complaining just letting you know where I am coming from. This past week was no exception. Thursday night Abigail had a game at one ball park while Elijah had a tournament at another ball park. Abigail scored 3 homeruns during that game. She was killing the ball that day! It was awesome. Elijah's team won their game which meant that we were going to have to play at least two games on saturday. Friday night Abigail had a game and scored 1 homerun and 1 double. Saturday we had to be at the ball field at 8:30am and did not leave until 4 pm.Those t-ballers played 4 games. It was 90 plus degrees and very humid. They were wiped. We had two graduation parties to attend inbetween all of this, not counting mothers day on sunday. The kids got to take some time off on Sunday and swim at a friends house. They are so tired, and poor isabella has kept right up there with them. She was too cute! They all look like they have been at the beach for a week. All except me, I am still so white. :) oh well. summer is just days away for us!! can not wait.

We had a fabulous time at the Audobon Zoo in New Orleans on Saturday. This was Isabella's first time to go. She would "oohhh" and "ahhhh" over all of the animals. Abigail and Elijah really like going. They even got to pet some snakes. The best show at the zoo is the sea lion exhibit. We got to meet a sea lion named lillie. She was so adorable. enjoy the pics.

School Play

The kids had their annual school play on Friday. It was a coybow theme so the kids had to dress as cowboys, and cowgirls. Elijah and Abigail both had speaking parts. They both spoke beautifully! :) Here are a few pics of the kids. The play was approximately 30 mins long..and since I have a second grader and first grader...I got to watch the same show twice....(yea me). Elijah (a.k.a. my little ham) decided that as they were closing the curtains for the first act, he would take a bow. Yeah..his shyness is really wearing off. hahaha

Ok, so Abigail seems to get lucky when it comes to getting on good teams! This year was her first year in basketball. Her team went undefeated! woo hoo! However, she spent most of the time on the bench! That sounds really bad, but you have to understand that the rules of this league state that once you get ahead by 10 points you have to sit out your lead scorer (sp?). Guess who that was? ABIGAIL!!! Before you think "oh my....she must be really good," understand that the play was set up to make her score the most points. Her height plays a small factor in that decision. Have you ever seen her daddy??? :) So anyway, the whole team was awesome, and everyone played really hard!!! congrats to the champions.

We also celebrated mardi gras last month. We went to a parade and one of abigail's best friends came with us! The kids had a blast, not to mention having our family in town to celebrate with us. we had a great time.

Yes, this day deserves a post. Abigail and Elijah are FORCED to wear uniforms at their school, but one day a year they get to wear REAL clothes. hahaha. This day is known as "spring picture day." We could care less about the actual pictures..but I thought I would snap a pic of them wearing their REGULAR clothes. hahaha. They get sooooo excited about being able to do it. Plus, it gives me a reason to post a pic of them. enjoy!

Yes...my baby is one! She still can not walk yet, so being one really has not sunk in yet. The doctor told us that being big is a disadvantage for babies trying to walk. Poor kid, she is in the 90th percentile for EVERYTHING! Anyway, we had her party today, and I thought I would post some pics. Enjoy :)

yes, we are "balling" again. This time around it is basketball. The kids had an awesome day. Abigail's team won big, but Elijah's team--now that is a different story. It seams that Elijah gets "drafted" to the not so good teams, and Abigail gets drafted to the awesome teams. Just seems a little unfair at times. Anyway, Abigail had to sit out a lot of the game because she scored all her possible points in the first few minutes of the game. That sounds really awesome--and she was--but the plays were sort of "designed" to help her accomplish this. Another girl on her team scored her possible points also and had to sit out. Elijah's team had to play their first game to the hardest team in the league. However, they played their hearts out and only lost by 8 pts. They should have been slaughtered...so I was very proud of their accomplishments. It was great. Here are a few pics to enjoy:

We were driving home the other night and elijah says "momma, if the groundhog sees his shadow then we will have 16 days of christmas, if not then we will not have any extra days of christmas." we had a fabulous day off on Monday. We started the day off taking Isabella to the dr. She had an ear infection...poor baby. But afterwards, we took the kids to the park. They had a blast. It was almost 70 degrees that day.

Goodness me...it has been a long time. We have been so busy..(imagine that). Christmas was a wirlwind of activities. Non-stop family stuff. It was so busy that I was unable to visit with my two friends that I had planned on. :( One thing we went to see while in Tennessee was "Grinch In Ice." It was so much fun. I will include a few pics to show just how cute it was. The kids enjoyed their christmas, even isabella. She was so cute, as soon as she learned how to open presents she was trying to open them all--even the ones that were not hers--too cute.

I posted a few days ago on Facebook that I was going to see my kids christmas performances at school. We have been so busy that I am just now getting to post some pics and videos...the last video I will post is not of my kids...but you will want to check it out I promise!!! The first video is of Abigail. She is the one with the red bow that is falling out. Their song was "It's Christmas Time in Texas" (i thought of you Kirsten).
The next video is of elijah's class. I think the song was called something about "Mrs. Santa Clause"

8 going on 18.....

Yes, this is my now 8 year old daughter. This whole weekend has been one big whirlwind of activities. It started out with a party for Abigail Friday night. Her birthday is on the 7th, but her party was Friday night. We had 4 extra children sleep over that night...and let's just say it will be a long time before that happens again!!! hahahaha. Then one of the young boys pictured in the above picture has the same birthday as Abigail. They are 50 minutes apart (abigail is the older one:) ) He had a party on Saturday. Saturday night Mike and I had a sunday school party for our class. Sunday, the children's department had their annual choir concert/play performance. Then Monday we had the annual Christmas parade that our children were a part of. To top it off, I have had to juggle finals around this whole thing. I am one tired person!!! Hope you enjoy the pics.

We had a wonderful thanksgiving day. We spent some time with our friends, and had a fabulous meal. Thanksgiving always reminds me of what I have to be thankful for. Of course my mind always goes back to my faith and family! I have three beautiful children who are healthy. I have a wonderful husband who loves God, and his family. I also have a great extended family. Our church loves and supports us, and I have awesome friends all around the globe! I could not be more blessed. The kids spent some time playing with this new wii game that we got for christmas (early present :)). It is called outdoor adventure. The games require you to use your body to complete the tasks. The kids (including mike) had a blast! I mentioned before that we had a great meal filled with all of the Thanksgiving staples...turkey, dressing ect...Isabella had another idea for thanksgiving supper. She decided she wanted this for supper instead:

FINALLY! I have been nominated for something. I've mentioned before that Abigail's school is implementing this new "robust vocabulary." Last night, Mike was helping Abigail learn her new words for the week. One of her words was "nominated." Mike went on to tell her the meaning of the word. After about a minute, Abigail responds with this statement, "Daddy, I nominate mommy to get a job." My response is a quote from the wicked witch of the west "All in due time my dear, all in due time." I am set to graduate December of 2010. Which seems like a long time from now, but I start my methods courses next fall. That will keep me extremely busy. So just start praying for me now!

Nine Months

Isabella turned nine months on election day (some day huh?) anyway, she is getting so big!!!! On her 8 month check up, she was 21.9 lbs. So by now she has to be 22 lbs at least. She is starting to get her own personality (which can be a good and bad thing haha) She does not crawl like a normal baby, but she does scoot to wherever she wants to go. She has 4 teeth now, and this has made for some interesting nights. Just wanted to post a short video. Enjoy...

We have been so busy lately that I have not had a chance to post anything! Of course having a virus sweep through our house did not help. Anyway...Friday was really busy for us as well. Abigail's class had their "tall tale" day on Friday. Her school does not celebrate Halloween, but their class got to dress up as a famous "tall tale" character. Abigail wanted to go as Pocahontas. Since she looked so cute...we let her keep it on for Halloween night. This is what she looked like:

Elijah was a Knight! His class did not have anything special that day, but they did give out candy. He just loves a camera, can u tell?

Well this is a new one for me. My childrens' school is pushing a new concept this year. They are introducing what they call "robust vocabulary." The idea is to introduce these big words to these young children. Now do not get me wrong, I love this idea. They are trying to increase the student's level of understanding. My first grader's words consist of "capacity, underestimate, and ambled." I have to admit I had no idea what ambled meant. Apparently, it means to "walk at a slow pace." Hmm....I do not know when or if he will ever use that word, but he sure will know what it means. My daughter's words are "heed, opinionated, blockades, inappropriate, ect.." Each week the school adds new words. I think they are starting to sink in. The other day Abigail says "Mom, why do you think SpongeBob is inappropriate for us to watch?" I thought to myself.."wow, she used it correctly and everything."

Thanks to Gustav we had to evacuate for a week. Luckily, we had no major damage..just no power for almost 5 days. Needless to say, me and the kids stayed in Tennessee. On a brighter note, my sister Kaylee welcomed their second baby into the world on Thursday.

She is 6 1/2 months now. At her six month check up she weighed 18 1/2 pounds. She babbles all the time. I can not believe how fast time is going by.

It is that time of year again...yes BACK TO SCHOOL time. Ya know that day were parents across the globe shout from the rooftops: woo hoo!!! We are FREE AT LAST...THANK GOD ALMIGHTY WE ARE FREE AT LAST! Ok, so maybe that was a little over the top. To tell the truth..I do sort of miss them when they are gone. Notice I said "sort of." hahahaha. I do love my babies. That is what they always will be...my babies. here are some back to school pics to see how each child felt about going back to school:

Ever since Isabella was born, Abigail has been a big help. She helps us probably more than the law allows. MOST of the time she does not complain, so we decided to give her a special treat. Abigail and a couple of her friends got to be "Diva's". They got their hair and make-up done. They had their fingernails painted, and was able to make their very own lip-gloss. They also got to sing and dance on a stage with a disco-ball. They had a blast.

They finally ended the day watching the Hannah Montana concert on the Disney Channel. I think she had a great day! I think she deserved it.

ok, so maybe these are not "strange creatures", but we did catch a baby stingray and tons of jellyfish out of the ocean. As tradition states...we must take these creatures out of their home and bury them in the sand. the baby pic is just to try and show you how much hair my baby girl is losing. she had SO MUCH hair when she was born, and now she is down to this tiny bit. It barely holds a bow anymore!!! she is just too cute with or without hair. Oh well, these are the last vacation pics i will show as well.

Our family had a nice vacation this week. We went to Orange Beach, AL. It was so nice to get away. I feel like we have been going non-stop since Isabella was born. That was five months ago. So we finally were able to stop and relax. Hope you enjoy the pics.

A rare event..

So Mike and I finally had a date night last night. Why is this a rare event you ask? That would be because our third child was born almost 5 months ago, and I believe our last date was before that!!! So I just had to get a picture of the rare event. The picture is located to the right if you have not already figured that out. It was nice to get out of the house, but the evening passed all to quickly. I guess that will be good enough for five more months. hahaha.

New Invention

Ok, I need a new invention. You know those cars that have that new "Microsoft Sync.." stuff in them? The one where you all you have to say is "call..home", and it dials it for you? Well I need a version that is nothing but a dictionary. Abigail is at the age where anytime you use a new word she wants to know the meaning of that word. This is great stuff..but how do you define the words "free country" to a 7 year old? The problem is, if you sit and think about it we all use words that we understand, but try to define them. For example the word "experience". We know what it means, but try to define it on the spot when a 7 year old asks "mom what does experience mean?" So, I am going to invent the dictionary version..."Dictionary define the word IT..." I think I am going to be rich....hahahaha.

We came, we played, we won, and now it is over. I found out a few things about Abigail and me. First, Abigail is pretty good at third base. If you tell her to do something...she does it! Secondly, I am a pretty competitive person. Yes, I have mentioned this before, but I am just shocked by the whole thing. Of course, Mike would say he has known all along (poor guy). Last but not least...I can be a little "redneck" at times. Ya know?? Oh well, we finished our season at the beginning of June, and placed third out of seven teams. That was a little disappointing because we placed first in our opening tournament. That is ok, there is always next year. The year may be over, but the memories will last forever. Enjoy...

A few weeks ago Elijah became a Christian! He is five years old. It was so sweet to hear him ask Jesus to come into his heart. He was baptized yesterday. He said "momma it felt so good to be baptized." Of course I was under the impression that he was speaking spiritually and all. Nope, he said "the water felt so good." Oh well he is only 5 years old. Abigail said she is not ready yet. That is fine. She has to make the decision for herself. Isabella is still working on getting cereal down her throat instead of out her mouth. She might take a while. hahahaha. she is getting cuter by the day. I will try and post new pics of her soon. hope you enjoy the video..
by the way..elijah was asked if he wanted his daddy to be the one to do it..and he said "nope..i want bro. joe." so there ya go.

Please do not Fear...We are still here

To all of my faithful readers (all of about 3?? hahaha) We are still here. We have been very busy. This week was our annual vacation bible school. I have told some of you that this is the biggest outreach our church is involved with. We had around 300 people a day involved with VBS. It breaks down to be around 200 students and 100 teachers and volunteers. Our church is filled with school teachers. This allows us to hold our VBS during the morning hours. We start at 8:30 and finish around 11:30. I think that is the reason we have such a huge turn out...ya know free child care. hahahaha. This year I was the secretary. After this week, I have a new respect for secretaries. It was one crazy day after another. In the end, this was a life changing week for some of our students. Decisions were made, and the angels rejoiced!!! The theme this year was Outrigger Island: Living God's Unshakable Truth. So many of the rooms were decorated in a Hawaiian theme. I am including some pics of decorated rooms, and students having fun. Enjoy!!!

Hallelujah......another school year is done!!! We know how to celebrate!

The kids attended a birthday party and hung out with their friends. I am including some funny pics of isabella because they are too cute. i am learning how to use this new camera, and everytime the flash would go off, isabella had a "deer in the headlights" look. thought you would enjoy. I hope to post more cute pics later. We plan on enjoying our summer vacation this year. Unlike last year, when we spent most of the summer in shock because of the shock of a new baby was here. and i had morning sickness on top of that. I am so thankful that part is over with!!! I love having her here! And now, i can enjoy the summer too!!

So I have been told that Isabella "looks just like elijah." More than once I have heard this statement. There were only two people who thought Isabella looked like Mike. Everyone is pretty much in agreement that Isabella is "Elijah in a bow." I thought I would let you decide. I have posted pics of abigail, and elijah at different stages of their lives...and of course Isabella has only one stage right now. Tell me what you think...who does she look more like??????

Three Months..

Just wanted to give an update. Isabella is three months old right now. She is 14 1/2 pounds and 25 inches long. She smiles all the time. That is not totally accurate. She smiles when she is not hungry or sleepy. Just wanted to share this cute pic. She is absolutely adorable. I feel so blessed to be her mom. I am thankful for each day I have with her. Of course, I feel blessed to have the other two as well. hahaha. I will definately post pics of them soon.

Isabella LOVES to suck on her hands. Ever since she realized she had them, she has put them in her mouth. I just had to get video of this to show you what I mean. She puts her WHOLE fist in there. You would think she was hungry! Trust me, she is fed!!!! Quite often to be exact. She goes to the doctor on tuesday of next week. We will see how big she has gotten then! enjoy.

I always knew my daughter was a drama queen. However, she was a real queen for one day!! The entire first grade class performed the play "The Princess and the Pea." Abigail was the Queen in the play. She had four lines, and spoke them clearly. She was so precious. The entire cast was as cute as a button. I hope you enjoy the pics.!!!!

Abigail's softball season started last Tuesday with their open tournament. This was my first experience as a parent of a softball player. I never realized until that day how competitive I was. I was so excited watching her play. She plays third base. She is actually pretty good at it. As long as the coaches tell her what to do with each play, she does it well!! I was so proud of her. She also made many singles, a few doubles, one triple, and one home run!!! The team won their game and played again on Thursday. Thursday's game went really well, and they won again. Saturday was the interesting day. Our day started out with the two undefeated teams playing against one another. The game started at 9:00 and after all the "protest" by the coaches of the other team..we finished the game at 11:00. Needless to say we WON. We played two more games and finally won First place "undefeated". I was so proud of Abigail. She played hard and made some great outs!! The whole team played well. Abigail was sick with strep throat the whole time. One player played with a pulled hamstring, and another had a sore ankle. Through all of that, they stuck together as a team and won. We had Isabella's two month check up the other day. She was 13 pounds and 24 1/2 inches long. Needless to say she is a big girl. She is actually taller than Abigail was at this age! Time sure is flying by! She is smiling and talking. We have a hard time keeping up! She is happy, and loved very much by her sister and brother. I know they love her now, but i can't help but wonder if they will still love her this much when she is getting into their stuff.HaHa.

Elijah had his first tball game on saturday. the video is not of his face, but you can see him hit his first ball of a real game. He was so cute. The lady yelling is not me, just another parent. I never realized how competitive tball could be. at least it is for the parents. this was actually the opening tournament of the regular season. the kids played three games starting at 8:30 in the morning. They won their first game, but lost their second and third. They were so cute. I hope to have better video soon. (one where you can actually see his face) Abigail's season has not started yet.When they do so i will certainly post some video. enjoy.

Easter Fun!!

We had a fun filled easter weekend. Saturday the kids enjoyed our children's easter party for our church. They played games, dyed and hunted easter eggs. Of course Sunday was church, and we had lunch with some of our friends from church. Do you see the cute dress Isabella was wearing? Well that is not the dress she actually went to church with. She decided that she wanted to change dresses, and she let me know by pooping all over that one. Needless to say I was a little late for church. Oh the joys of parenting!! enjoy the pics...

ok, so I am only a small percentage Irish, but it is the thought that counts!! Actually, Elijah's kindergarten class had to create leprechaun traps so they could catch the leprechauns. This is what Elijah came up with. the small bowl is filled with cut-up Mardi Gras beads. He told me that the leprechauns would think that it was gold, and they would fall into his trap. The leprechauns left a note telling the children that they loved their traps, but leprechauns are harder to catch than you think. They instead left the green tokens inside their traps. Oh the imagination of those kindergarten teachers....

A HUGE KNOT ON HIS HEAD!! Ok, so have you heard the saying "Never put a boy wearing superman pajamas on the top bunk" Well if he is wearing the underwear, don't let him leave the house!!!! You see, a couple of weeks ago Elijah and a buddy decided that there was something on the ceiling of the classroom at church that needed to be removed. My son is not the most "graceful" person in the world. So when he and his buddy climbed onto the table to retrieve this item, it did not take gravity long to take effect. Soon, he came tumbling down. His face was fortunate enough to break his fall. The bad part is, the item the face hit was the corner of another table. I have not seen a knot swell so big. It hit him right in the middle of his eyes just above his nose. He looked like something off the movie Mask with Cher. FREAKED me out.

I contemplated taking him to the doctor, but I was a little afraid that they might call Child Protection Services. I can hear the questioning now:

"uh, Mrs. Burns, where you watching your son when this happened?"
"why yes, i watched him take a flying leap right off of this table."

Elijah has already had stitches in his eye from another injury. Dont ask....

The funny part was, his buddy watched all of this happen and continued to try and retrieve this item off of the ceiling. BOYS.....go figure!!

I am thinking of setting up an automatic withdrawal system at the doctor's office.

We finally passed our birth weight. We had her one month check-up today. She weighed in at 10.6 pounds. Bascially she gained 2 lbs in 3 weeks. She is our little "piglet." She just gets bigger by the day. She is starting to smile now, and make cute little noises. We are just thankful for everyday we have. Hope all is well with everyone.

Elijah has been very interested in golf lately. Mike decided to take him to a driving range to practice hitting some balls. When he actually makes contact (which is more often than not) he hits it really far. Hey, maybe we have a little "tiger woods" in the making. If so great!, he can pay for his own therapy. Abigail tried her hand at it too. However, she hit more dirt than balls. Oh well, at least she looked cute trying.

Nine years......

Today Mike and I have been married for nine years. Wow, that just seems like a long time. However, the years have really flown by. We have had nine years of laughter, arguements, diapers, bottles, tears, prayers, (lots of prayers), and I would not trade a moment of it. Though our life is quite busy with three children, our church, the kids school, and my school, it is just "another day in paradise." I have been reminded of this lately because of the close family and friends who are going through trials at this time. I am reminded daily that I am so unworthy of the blessings that God has given me. I am just thankful for each and everyday that God allows me to spend in "paradise." Is it always easy??? Heavens No!!! It is a lot of work keeping up "paradise," but the end result is worth the trouble. I hope to have many more days with my family. I do not know what the future holds, but I do know who holds the future. Thankfully, it is NOT me! hahahaha.

O.k., so maybe I will never hear that forecast for Albany, LA but it is appropriate for my blog title. You see, I was sitting with my almost 3 week old daughter and I decided to comb her massive amount of hair. As I started combing, i noticed a few "flakes." I decided to keep combing and see what happened. Needless to say I was shocked to find a head FULL of white flakes. It looked like she was outside in a blizzard!! I tried so hard to get a picture of it, but the camera did not pick up the small blizzard going on in her hair. You will just have to use your imagination. I know this is normal for newborns, but it was so cute to acutally see. She is still doing great. She sleeps so good for us at night. We are just praying that continues. Our house looks like a Babies R Us storeroom. Baby stuff everywhere!! And our home is not big. She is barely 3 weeks old, and she is already taking over!!! Oh well, we would not have it any other way.

My sisters and niece came to visit with us this weekend. We had a great time. It was one of those rare beautiful days in Louisiana. Ya know, not too hot, not too cold. We decided to let the kids blow some bubbles. They had the best time. The little one pictured above would be my cutie pie niece Ariana. She is two years old....need I say more???? You know how two year olds are...as rotten as they are cute. We had a great visit, but the poor boys were out-numbered 6 to 2. I bet they are glad to have less estrogren in the house.

So during all of the preparations for the new baby, Mardi Gras did come and go. The kids' school had their annual mardi gras parade. The kindergarten class actually puts on the parade, and the pre-k, 1st, and 2nd grades catch all of the goodies. Above are some of the pics from this years parade. The kids had a blast!

A New Adventure

So we are seven days into this new adventure. Boy has it been interesting. Our beautiful baby started off 9 pounds 9 ounces, but quickly dropped to 8 pounds 8 ounces thanks to breastfeeding troubles. So we have made the switch once again to formula. She was born with a slight heart murmur (spelling?), but the doctors said that it would close on its own. Today, at her check up ,the doctor said it was no longer there. He could no longer hear it. God is good!!! Abigail is like a little momma to her. Elijah want to kiss her ALL of the time. He is too cute. He also sings songs to her. Well, songs that he makes up. He is very proud of his little sister. Who wouldn't be? She is gorgeous! I hope to post more at a later time, but there is an odor coming from that gorgeous little one the requires my attention.
